The budget-friendly entry to houseboating — an older or smaller hull with the basics done well. Best for a small family or a couple of couples who care more about getting on the water than about amenities.

When to reserve
Peak-summer houseboats are the most competitive reservation on Lake Powell. The best boats and prime week-long dates routinely sell out 6–12 months in advance; reservations often open up to a year out, and holiday weeks (July 4th) go first.
Peak summer: mid-June – mid-August. Hottest water, biggest crowds, highest rates — and the dates that sell out first.

Common add-ons
Estimated for 7 days — you selected a powerboat.
Metered on return — bigger boats and longer cruises burn far more.
- Powerboat / ski boat. Almost essential — a houseboat is slow, so a towed powerboat lets you reach side canyons, run to a marina, and ski. Roughly $400–550/day.
- Fuel (billed separately). Houseboat fuel is metered at the marina on return and is one of the biggest variable costs — easily $500–1,500+ for a week depending on size and how far you cruise.
- Personal watercraft (jet skis). Wave-runner / PWC rentals run about $400–500/day each and need their own Glen Canyon vessel pass tier.
- Kayaks / SUPs. Cheap and worth it for exploring shallow side canyons from the houseboat — roughly $40–60/day each.
- Provisioning & gear packages. Operators offer add-on packages — linens, kitchen kits, grills, and grocery provisioning — so you don't have to haul everything yourself.
*All figures are 2026 planning estimates built from published rates out of the Wahweap, Antelope Point, Bullfrog, and Halls Crossing marinas near Page, AZ. Wahweap and the north-lake marinas are operated by Lake Powell Resorts & Marinas (Aramark); Antelope Point Marina is operated separately. Lake Powell Houseboat FAQ
How much does it cost to rent a houseboat on Lake Powell in 2026?
It depends heavily on boat size and season. A smaller economy houseboat can run roughly $350–750 per night, a popular mid-size standard boat around $525–1,150, and a large luxury 75-footer anywhere from about $800 in winter to around $1,400–1,650 per night at peak summer (premium boats run higher). Most rentals are multi-night blocks, and marina fuel is billed separately — so the per-person cost usually drops sharply as you fill the boat with a bigger group.
How far ahead should I book a Lake Powell houseboat?
For peak summer (mid-June through mid-August), book 6–12 months ahead — the best boats and prime week-long dates are the most competitive reservation on the lake and routinely sell out a year out, with holiday weeks going first. Spring and fall shoulder season is easier (3–6 months), and winter availability is wide open (1–3 months).
Which marina should I launch a houseboat from?
Most first-time visitors launch from Wahweap near Page, the largest marina with the deepest fleet. Antelope Point, also near Page, leans toward newer luxury boats. Bullfrog and Halls Crossing on the north lake (about 2.5 hours from Page by road) are quieter and closer to the upper lake's side canyons. Wahweap and the north-lake marinas are run by Lake Powell Resorts & Marinas (Aramark); Antelope Point is operated separately.
What's included with a houseboat rental, and what costs extra?
Houseboats come with a kitchen/galley, restroom(s) with showers, sleeping berths, a top deck, and safety gear and life jackets. What's billed separately includes marina fuel (metered on return), a security deposit, taxes, and the Glen Canyon vessel pass required to launch. Common add-ons are a towed powerboat, jet skis, kayaks/SUPs, and provisioning or linen packages.
How many people can a Lake Powell houseboat sleep?
Fleets range from about 46 to 75 feet. Smaller boats comfortably sleep around 6–8, mid-size boats 10–12, and the largest luxury 75-footers sleep up to about 14 (some listings advertise up to ~16). Max berth counts are higher than the comfortable number — this planner uses realistic comfortable capacity so you don't end up cramped. Groups bigger than that book two boats rather than crowding onto one.
